Background
My families’ roots come from the Northeast of America where I was born.
I was brought west to California, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.
After studying art and languages at the University of California at Santa Cruz and graduating from UC Berkeley I spent some time working in Saudi Arabia, then followed a three-year program in Graphic Design study in Germany.
Moving from Germany to New York City in the 80’s I worked as a graphic designer there for 6 years, then moved to London with my partner and continued freelancing as a graphic designer there while beginning to raise a family. While living in London I taught Graphic Design at the Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe.
After London, we lived in Maine for four years, then Berkeley, California for 22 years, breaking up our time in California with an interim four years in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where I followed graduate level painting courses and exhibited my work both as an individual and as a collaborator.
In 2021 we returned to Maine to settle down in the City of Portland, where I paint plain air watercolors, acrylics on canvas, and teach acrylic painting at the Roux and Cyr Gallery downtown.
At this time, I am most inspired by the cliffs, rocks and woods of the Maine coast as well as open water swimming scenes.
Please enjoy my artwork, there will be more and different inspirations added as I make them.
